We're working very hard with chip vendors to make sure folks are getting the best experience possible running Unity in the forth-coming release of Ubuntu (Natty). Jean-Baptiste Lallement has posted to the QA mail list, asking for committed volunteers to test the nVidia drivers in Unity on a weekly basis. You can read his email here:
Jean-Baptiste links to detailed instructions in his email. The QA Tracker for this effort is here (but please be sure to read his email and follow the instructions that he links to):
We look forward to hearing from you!

ATI drivers are still wonkey though any chance of progress on them? Im getting a new nvidia gpu some time this week ill give it a good test when I get it.
shanepatrickfagan,
Yes, progress is being made actively by several involved parties. We've already started seeing lots of improvements, and with that track record in place, I think it's fair to say we can expect more.
Any issues you help identify in your testing will *definitely* drive improvements. This information is being passed to the upstream directly -- and it's getting used :-)
Can't wait to see your results!
